Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 Flight Data Reveals Brake Pedal Activity During Munich Incident

Flight recorder data concerning the Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 incident at Munich Airport in August indicates that movement occurred on the left-side brake pedal shortly after the aircraft began its takeoff run, accompanied by corresponding brake-system activation.

According to the BFU report, a second braking event was recorded moments before rotation.

The report noted that the aircraft was being flown during takeoff by the left-seat pilot, a 64-year-old with 27,182 flying hours.

The report did not specify whether the brake inputs resulted from pilot action or a technical malfunction. Investigators stated that brake-related components and other system parts were secured from the aircraft for examination.
